What does this mean??? (Ford Focus)

I was browsing through Tower Hobbies and found this information on the ford Focus WRC by Tamiya

FEATURES: Plastic parts are attached to sprues and molded in black and white;
clear pieces also included.
Static display model.
Complete exterior and cockpit detailing
Standing engine paired with an upright gearbox..
Solid synthetic rubber tires with exact tread pattern.
Realistic chassis and undersurface suspension.
Large rear wing.
Waterslide decals and mesh netting included.
Detailed pictorial instructions.

What does Standing engine paired with an upright gearbox.. mean exactly.?
Anyone

Sounds like advertising gobbledygook to me, or probably more accurately - lies.

The Focus WRC has a transverse engine and a longitudinal, sequential gearbox. How that relates to the above is anybody's guess.

I suspect the blurb writer started out with the details on the Tamiya box, but then felt the need to get all creative and mislead any potential customers into thinking the kit contained some kind of engine and gearbox. It doesn't, it’s a curbside.

Advertising, it's just lies. And that site just lost all credibility.

Like Phil said, it's gobbledygook, none of the Tamiya Focus kits have full engine detail.....

Not very high QUAL
Engine block and head made from milliput and Italeri molding putty, sanding smoothing and detailing required
the last pic shows work molding the door upholstery as I did cut it off the rollcage..

I heard of a guy who customized a revell integra engine into the Zetec 4 that powers the beast. Lemme see if I can find the pics.

"Standing engine with upright gearbox" is the opposite of "laid-down engine with laid-down gearbox". Some rear wheel drive road racing cars came with gearboxes mounted on their side to enable lowering the engine further thus lowering the center of gravity. Obviously enough, they're called "lay-down transmissions." And a laid-down engine would be an opposed type like some Subarus, Porches, etc.

What this has to do with Tamiya's Focus kit is beyond me, though. Considering it's curbside and FWD.

darrenj, that engine is coming along nicely. I can't wait for your finished item. Is this going to be for that Focus dioramma you was talking about in your other thread?

Thanks for the pics.

YEP!

Yeah
check out my diary (WARNING not updated for some months).
go to my link below and click on the Focus thumb...

Basically we have our first born due in about 3 to 4 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!
Meaning, my wife read me the riot act to finish up the diorama and clear out my work corner; that incidently is where the baby bed will be going... so no model building for a while (like the next 16 years)
