How Can i put Fog lights on my roof without drilling holes???

I want to put 4 PIAA 520's on my roof. I am being told that drilling 4 holes is necessary and the headliner will need to be peeled back in order to bold them down.
Anyone have FOG lights put on the roof? i am not sure if the cross bars move but maybe using some kind of clamp to the cross bar would work if the bar could be moved all the way forward.

Can someone who has these or knows about them please hook me up with some info?

I cant believe its this hard to mount fog lights on the roof.

im planning to put on a manik grill guard and two PIAA 540 dual fog and driving on the front with two tails guards. It would be sweet to put 4 fogs on top as well.

help me out guys. THX.

Horizontal Mighty Mounts for the crossbars and a length of steel or aluminum should do the trick, and yes the crossbar can be mounted forward. I'm sure someone will give you links to pictures or such. Not that hard to think up a way to mount lights to the roof...the hard part is figuring out how to run the wires.

Why do you want to put fog lights on the roof? Usually roof lights are high powered flood lights for night time offroading. Fog lights that high off the ground are useless and a total waste of money and effort.

I don't know who told you that holes in the roof were necessary for the lights themselves...only a moron would say or do that!

I ran my wires down the passenger side door, and under the a-pillar gasket. Some braver people have drilled holes in the rack and then drilled through the roof under where the plastic roof-rack mount is. Then the headliner, firewall, etc.

Like Chuck says, fog lights are useless up there.

i wanted to run fog lights up there for bad michigan weather. Rain, Fog, and snow. Not much off roading other than shitty roads. DO you guys think that these PIAA's 85 watts will be helpful? and if so, am i gonna need to done some monkeying with wiring or will it be a simple hook up. Sounds like from other boards that it isnt as simple as screw them in and hook em up to a battery.
Also, im putting the PIAA 540 dual fog and driving on a manik guard in front. What do you think is better for bad weather conditions... PIAA 520 crystal ion fog lights or PIAA 540 dual fog and driving with amber fog and white driving? I admit that the 520's look better with the wire cage on the lights but will the duals be more practical?

thanks for the input...

Question

I would think that any type of light on top of the roof in foggy conditions would just blind the driver more. It would be like drive in fog with your brights on.
Wouldn't the 540 dual lights meet the requirements of driving in foul weather?

In order for foglights to be useful they need to be mounted low; usually a foot off the ground or so. Mine are on the top of the bumper and even that is too high. There are a couple reasons for this. 1) Fog doesn't go all the way to the ground and there is a clear area betweent he road and the fog. By mounting low you are getting light out under the fog layer and on the road. 2) Having them low means the light output is below your line of sight so it doesn't bounce back at you.

If you mount them on the roof you are going against everything that works plus you are forcing a bunch of light forward in front of the windshield intot he fog. Guess where that light actually ends up? THat's righ; right back in your eyes!

There is also the legal issue. There are some differences from state to State, but generally you are allowed to use your main beams and one set of foglights. Having 6 foglights on is asking for it and is as unsafe to you as it is to others.

If all you want are fog lights just get some good ones and mount them low. Don't even bother with the roof lights. Roof lights can be a PITA if you deal with parking garages or anything anyway.
