RB20DET for my Z31?

I have a 1985 300zxT, The engine/turbo is going bad and i was wondering if anybody knew about a RB20DET swap. I have found a website with the Engine, transmission, ecu.............. Will this engine bolt right in or would it require a lot of time and money. If so what is another good engine to consider, Thanks

Won't drop in, but it won't require a whole lot of money either. A suggestion for another engine would be a rebuilt vg30et. Why bother with another engine?

i have seen it don, you might want to try asking some guys in the zcar.com forum or maybe concider a rb25, not much more expensive, still would fit, and gives alot more power, an sr has more potential then a rb20

I had seen the RB20DET motor and thought it was an awesome motor, skyline, i had seen something called a 200zr i think with a RB20DET but it might have been a SR20DET, it had a top mounted intercooler, i just wanted to have an engine that nobody else has, something different, Also what are the specs with a RB25, thanks

Valvetrain dohc 4-valve/cyl
Displacement [cc] 2498
Bore & Stroke [mm] 86.0 x 71.7
Compression Ratio 9.0:1
Redline [rpm] 7500 fuel cutoff 8000

Max. Power [Bhp at rpm] 250 at 6400
Max. Torque [lb-ft (Nm) at rpm] 217 (294) at 4800
Bhp/Liter 100

but i cant seem to find some external dimensions, i can't see why it would be much smaller then an rb26...so you can refernce from that to see how much work would be needed to be done

would you be talking about the 90-96 Z32 Twin Turbo motor, if so that is an awesome engine indeed, if that would drop right in that would be another thing for me to consider, let me know, thanks

Oh, would the RB25 mount in with ease, i don't have a whole lot of money to be spending on extra labor so i need an engine that would be fairly easy to get in the car, i am not saying that i couldn't find the money somehow if it was an awesome motor

also if you can find a wrecked n/a z32 or just a plain old vg30de (n/a z32 motor) the turbo conversion is rather easy and makes alot of sense actually...you end up with a fresh engine with better internals and the turbo you want, why start out with a turbo and pay the extra cost for stuff you would have to replace anyways if you wnated to go big......also a vg30de puts out more power then a vg30et does stock so the n/a route might do you just as well

200ZR uses a RB20DET powerplant....... that engine is far more sportier then the VG30ET......

RB series kicksass and takes names with some money spent.

How much money spent, also if something happened to the engine wouldn't it cost a lot to fix it? Thanks

Also got a question bout the Z32, i kno its been tlked bout LOTTTTA times but watever, If you drop in a rb25 or rb26 engine(i think one of them is awd) how much custom fabrication will be needed? cuz i kno the engine space is squished and the vg is wider than the rb26/25?
