Hey, two birds, one stone!
![]() New here, yay. Found it from ERDT. Blame Heep. It's all his fault. String him up by his pinkies or something. Actually, no, make him drive a Geo Metro 3cyl for a few months. Give him back his car if he survives the experience. ![]() Anyways, what do you need to know about the Ammco? I'm used to the older models.. they're pretty self-explanatory and easy. Crank on the front moves cutting arm in and out, knobs above the bits lock the arms, the knobs behind those knobs adjust the bits, the crank on the right end of the lathe adjusts the position of the rotor you're cutting. Oh, and the on switch is somewhere on there too.

Brake lathe
Yes basic operation is fairly straight foward on the Ammco lathe. I'm not sure of the age but it is an older model. My concerns are the harder rotors found on the Chevrolet trucks. Also is cutting slower or faster better, worse............as Im new to machining rotors and drums I looking for some input or knowledge from an experienced tech.:sun:

Well, speaking from experience, don't cut the 2500HD rotors fast. Best way to do 'em all is slow - take the hit on the flatrate, or you're going to have them coming back. Chrysler rotors especially like to come back warped. Make sure you rotate the bits too, I've run into a few rotors that just refuse to be cut.
