Performane Chip Questions
Umm...can someone please explain to me in detail what it does, how it works, and some other info that you might think is useful to know? Also, does anyone know where I can get one from and how much does it generally costs? Thank you!

Basicly it changes the fueling and ignition maps. Powergains are just a few percent on an NA engine, exhaust emissions usually gets higher, however fuel consumption tends to go down. Require high octane fuel.
If it's a turbocharged engine powergains are greater since boost can be increased. |

I SEE....That makes sense. It's funny kuz my friend probably has that built into his 89 Ford Probe (Just like my car, probes are no longer produced I think) and he doesn't even know what it does, LOL. He just presses the Turbo button attached to his transmition thinking that there's no system installed behind it. I guess we'll have to check that out :P.
Anyways, would you know how much a performance chip costs? Also, if anyone knows where I can get one for a 1995 Eagle Vision ESi, please tell me. I saw someone's profile with a 1994 Vision (1 year older than mine) that had a performance chip. I truely don't know where he got it from but finding parts for this car is rediculous ever since the Eagle branch in chrysler was wiped out. |

what turbo button?...there is no such thing....sounds like its only an overdrive switchunless he has a boost controler with high and low boost

I truely don't know...but I do see a performance increase in his car and a slight variation of RPM when the switch is on. We'll have to disassemble it and see where the wires lead to
!

yeah i'm pretty sure its just an overdrive button....
about the chip...they ussually cost about 300

yeah i've heard of people talkin' about this "turbo button" on 1g eagle talons (DSM's), to me it seams rediculous. a turbo is basically on or not there is no choice. i just figured it was a button that downshifted 1 gear for more power er somethin'

You're probably right because the RPM increases the turn the switch into the on position. However, I don't understand how increasing the RPM gives more power, I always thought it was a lower RPM gives you a more powerful start. Or maybe i'm just confusing myself! :S *BTW...can you tell that I couldn't tell you how many valves my engine has if my life depended on it*
