Remote Key FOB Programming for 1996 ETC

I did a search first but didn't find any information on this subject.

I have a 1996 Cadillac Eldorado ECT. I had two working remote keyless key FOBs that worked fine. My son "misplaced" the key FOB with the #2 label on the back of it. My #1 still works fine.
I purchased a replacement #2 key FOB that has the same part number on the back of it that the original had. Can someone tell me the correct procedure for programming this new FOB?

Thank you for your help.

I just returned from the Cadillac dealer and he said you have to bring it in to the dealer and hook it up to some electronic box.

You can't just push buttons on the remote like some others.
