My first real race, who won?

Hey guys this is my first race and I don't know who won, I'll let you decide.

So this guy that I passed earlier pulls up next to me at the red light, he's driving an Unidentifiable year model Buick Skylark, 60's to 70's prolly but I'm no expert in THAT field. It's obviously auto, he is stering with his right hand, and not in great condition. But he acts like he wants to go, jumping up on the line and then creeping ahead, so I pull even and watch the light when it goes green I hit the gas and fly away from the light, easily getting the jump on him and staying ahead by about a car length til 50ish, then he starts pulling on me, hard, at 65ish its obvios he'll pass me so I take my foot off the floor and he pulls on ahead as I slow down. Then he slows down and I give him a thumbs up and he , smiles and waves as he turns of.

now I know he would have pulled ahead had we pushed it past 75 - 80, but who won?

If the reason you let off the gas because you knew he was going to pass you than he won it. Sorry bro, you gotta keep a consistant lead on someone or just blow them away in order to have a right to let off the gas and claim you won.

hmmm, V6 Buick vs ~115hp Civic... yeah he won. Civics usually jump ahead of the boats off the line, but upwards of 40-50mph they seem to fall behind.
