ARGHH!! Help plz

I have had the most WORST DAY in the world!!!!

AGRGRGRGRGR

A simple oil and filter change turned into a nightmare!!!

First of all the o-ring seal from the old filter was left on the bolt... which i couldnt sere and put the new oil filter straight over it... which ment there wasnt a proper seal and oil went everywhere!!! (at 65 bucks a bottle i WAS NOT happy) + I had just had my engine bay cleaned bout 3 weeks ago...

ALSO! they had changed the oil filter type from the one i have to the new one. so i had to get 2 different oil filter removers...

Then I fixed the filter and used wat oil i had left and decided to pop down to get another bottle (another 65 bucks) i get down there buy the bottle come down to my car and smoke/ steam was coming out of the bonnet... i was liek WHAT THE F(*K NOW>.. pop the bonnet and i forgot to put the F(*KING oil cap back on ARG!

So then i put some in and put a rag over the hole and head home... What I noticed is I think I may have put too much oil in.... Is this a problem?? Ive prob got close to 3 - 4ltr in and its a 1.5ltr dual carb...

Also smoke comes out a bit of the engine bay.. would this just be the oil burning off the engine where it was sprayed everywhere??

Mainly just concerned about there being too much oil... On the dipstick it is about 15cm from the tip...

thanks for helping and understanding MY SCREWED UP DAY

Too much oil is as bad, possibly worse in some cases, as too little oil. Bite the bullet, drain, and start over.

$65 a bottle? What the hell kind of oil are you using?

Just figure up how much oil you had left to put in the car the second time around... or did you add more oil to the engine without draining it again after the oil filter leaked?

First of all, I wanna know what kinda oil can cost $65, 'cause I've never heard of any oil costing even half as much as that. And about having too much oil, your crank shaft is gonna have increased resistance, and is also going to stir up the oil more than it should, this will lower the effectiveness of the oil and increase strain on the engine, don't try to go anywhere near high RPM while you got too much oil. I would highly suggest getting it down to the correct levels.
