SR20VET modding

i was wondering if the SR20VET in the X-trail is a common engine for modding. it comes with 280 ps stock.

i know the SR16VE is a rare engine. comes in the VZ-R and VZ-R n1 trim.

so i was wondering, if the VET comes in Turbo trim, wouldnt that make that engine a much more potent swap than a DET. i dunno if the car is FWD or not, but with the SR-DE tranny, could it be possible to turn that sucker into a RWD. ofcourse this doesnt matter if the car is RWD already.. just asking.

but as far as the sr20vet goes,... how are they in terms of tunability and what parts are readily available?

280... that beats out an SR20 from an s15

I believe the X-trail is 4WD, so obviously that tranny will not work. I have never seen parts for the VE, but haven't looked. I had this same idea, but I figured if it was possible, I would have heard something by now.

It would seem that you could bolt up the SR20 Tranny, but because of the AWD thing, I guess that's not possible....unless you want to get into some serious modification. I wouldn't even want to deal with it.

you'd be better off with an rb25. it would cost too much time too install it since it isn't common, and i believe its a lot bigger so fitment would be an issue. also VERY hard to find parts unless you live in japan. good luck
