which maxima should I buy?

I have a $10,000 budget for a maxima, and am wondering which you would buy with the money. What year, submodel, etc. I was looking at either the '99 or '00, i know the '00 is more powerful (which is great) yet I think the '99 looks better. I would be leaving the car stock, no real upgrades, its is really is for me to drive up to and at college. WHAT SHOULD I GET???

I used to think the 97-99's looked better, but after I got my 03, the look really grew on me, now I think it looks amazing, but maybe I'm biased. I think the interior ergonomics and design on the 00-03's are much better. THe only thing is, with your budget, the 99 you buy will probably be better eqquiped, moonroof, leather, BOSE, where as the 00 you can afford will probasbly be pretty base. So given the budget, I'd look for a 99 SE (The middle model)

definitely ... '99 - cuz not only will it probably have more options, but also most likely less miles which it definitely a factor for u if u are traveling to school and back a lot ...

Re: which maxima should I buy?

w/ 10k u could probably find a pretty clean 00-01 model w/ a couple options. but that could take a while. if you dont have alot of time to search. then you should find a 99 model. i would recommend an SE model. cuz they are very sporty. though they have 32 less hp, if you get the manual, you will still be about just as fast.

If you want something faster i would recommend 1995-1996, GXE or SE. If you want something thats looks a little better i would get 1997-1999. If you want something thats newer get 2000-2002.

the 97 maxima i suppose to have the same componants on the 95-96. So the 97 looks better and it is one of the faster 4th gens. so you get both. 98 -99 i think has a differnt ECU and other stuff that had to be cahnged cause of laws.

Not that I'm upset that my car has more power than the '97-'99, but why would you say that the '95-'96 is faster? Weight? Also, I don't understand why people don't like the style of the 95-96...I prefer my grill to the '97 changeover (I have a '96 SE), maybe it's just me.

I think the 95 and 96 Maximas look better than the 97 - 99.
The 95 and 96 usually had a little better acceleration times
than the 97 - 99 models.

Personally I like the tails on the 97-99 max better than 95-96

Maybe I'm just biased, but.. yeah.

actually 95's are the fastest and some 96's since they are OBD-1 emissions making them fastest(due to less restrictive emission controls) and more resonsive to modifications(for the same reason). 0bd-1 4th gens are the fastest. and my 95 maxima was listed as 2895 lbs on the registration, i haven't seen any other year 4th gen weigh in lower than 3001 lbs with a 5 speed
