What Have U Done to Improve Ur Sounds?

Hello All:

If you previoulsy had a stock stereo on your 330i/ci, what have you done to improve the sound quality of your system to match or surpass the quality of an HK sound system, with moderate budget and without changing the stereo head unit?

Is there any company out there that sells the same parts that make up the same HK sound system that BMW offers as an option?

Any input is greatly appreciated and will help me with my sound system upgrade.

I am looking for the same thing... I have had no luck it seems that we would have to stick the HK or replace the entire system...

subwoofers are a decent place to start. most stock systems dont have much low end sound. havent had a HK system so i cant vouch for it, but i have read that it is fairly weak. my one mistake on doing sound upgrades on my car was not getting good quality amps. i think thats where most of your money should go, getting a decent amp for your main speakers and a decent amp for you sub. other thing that is very important is sound imaging. i defeated my tweeters on the a pillar in favor of a coax speaker in the door, and it messed up the high freq image in the front of the cabin.
for best bang for buck, i'd say get a good amp to power your existing stock speakers, somthing that has more power and more stability. that will improve sound quality the most. then maybe add a sub woofer in the trunk.
