I recently got a car as a gift from my family for graduation from HS. The dealer where they purchased the car told them that it was an EX. It had been repainted and didn't have any badging. I didn't know much about the different models of civics so i thought it was legit. After some research, it found out that it has the D16Z6 engine instead of the D16Y8. It's a 1993 2dr, auto, and fully loaded. Ever since i got the car, i've been having nonstop problems. Did the dealer lie or am i just wrong? If he lied, what else did he lie ablout? Please help me!!!

I bought my civic not knowing anything about them and my badges were taken off so... I was told it was an EX... then after researching it (once I already bought it) I found out it was an EX..
DAMN I was mad. I didnt know about the civics except that the ex has a sohc vtec engine and sunroof... I found out like the next day I bought it.. Ive had NO problems with my car though... Only catching up on the maintanence. I was getting about 160 miles to the tank. Now I replaced my oxygen sensor and I got 268 miles to the tank... and thats with flooring it alot and AC on ALL the time!

The dealer may have lied about it but no matter what type of civic you got, I think you just got a lemon. I'd sell it if I were you.
