What mods have you done to your CRX?

I've had my CRX for almost a week now, and I've decided it's about time to increase the HP. I already have I/H/E installed, but I was wondering what my fellow CRX owners have done to their ride to pull out a few more ponies.

Thumbs up Mods

Well i would suggest doing something like AEM pulleys or even a AEM camsprocket. The pulleys can add about 8hp and it's about the same for the camsprocket. The pulleys run about $100 and the camsprocket runs about $150. I guess that's something you can do for a few more ponies.

Question

I wanted to put on a pulley kit on my engine, but a friend told me to not to do it cause the alternator would die down when the car came to a stop. Have you heard anything about that?

I know the pulleys can drain the battery. they also can be hard on the motor. If you wnat to get some more power out of your motor you should get web cam for it.

Question pulleys

No, i've never heard of it dying at a stop. The only way it gives more power is because the pulley is lighter than stock and it spins faster, in turn giving your alternator, water pump and everything MORE power. I dunno what to say.....

Hmmm... if the pulley is the same diameter as stock I don't see how it would spin any faster, just spin with less resistance to the motor. If it's an underdrive pulley (smaller than stock) it'll make more power but cause your water pump, alternator, etc to spin at slightly lower RPMs. I've never heard of any damage caused by underdrive pulleys.

i have an underdrive pulley on my si, it does slow the alt. and what not down, but not to the point of it killing over, but my lights def. dim, don't do this if you plan on a system of lots o neon and what not, i also have msd, didn't give me any power but it surely runs better and smoother

Ok, I'm runnin' 2 12" subs pullin' 400w each, would I need a more powerful alternator if I were to install an underdrive pully?

if you've got a sound system pulling any sort of power you don't want to underdrive your alternator, underdriving is like replacing your alternator with a little baby alternator so why would you do that if you've got a system?
