Question Remove Debris Covering Dashboard VIN Number

Model: 2003 Ford Ranger XLT 4X2

I somehow threw a piece of debris in between the dashboard panel and the windshield, in the gap where the VIN number is displayed. Now, about a third of the number is not readable. I tried using curved tweezers and 90-degree pliers to remove it, but it's too tight. I slammed on the brakes and swerved to try to move it around in the gap under the panel, but it's stuck in hard. My next step is to try to snag it with a blob of glue on the end of a string, let it set, then yank it out.

Should I be worried about driving a car with the dashboard VIN number obscured?

Is removing the entire dashboard panel overkill? Any other ideas to get the debris out?
