Mazda MX-5 ND - bright red
Here is my model of Tamiya's Mazda MX-5 ND. I have painted it a non-factory colour, TS-49 Bright Red, to match the three (older) siblings in my collection. Plus, I think Mazda missed an opportunity by not offering a solid red option in the ND model range. I have painted the wheels the factory-option silver, rather than the very common black. The model itself is to Tamiya's usual exceptionally high standard of engineering.
Cheers, Grant. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: Mazda MX-5 ND - bright red
Love the group pictures. So cool that you made them in the same color!

Re: Mazda MX-5 ND - bright red
I'm starting to see a trend here...It is true, you like these little pocket rockets, huh?
![]() All awesome builds Potsie, lovely work. I just had a good read right through your build pages. I like the group photos too and the colour choice is hard to beat.

Re: Mazda MX-5 ND - bright red
Looks fantastic in bright red! Don't know why Mazda is using such dour or non-colors on the MX5's these days. Maybe for 2020 they'll do another bright red.
There's a guy in my local model club who brought his Tamiya ND roadster body to the last meeting, also painted bright red. He used Tamiya's new pink primer under it. Someday I need to build my Fujimi True Red NC replica of my 1:1. Even though nobody makes the NC2 wheels I have on mine that are reminiscent of S2000 AP2 wheels...only better.

Re: Mazda MX-5 ND - bright red
Thanks for the comments guys.
@Stump - yes, I do have a few MX-5s in the stash - about 20 or so at last count! My wife and I own two NBs; one mildly warmed over naturally aspirated and one track modified turbo SE. We are also members of the NSW Club, so we have lots of inspiration for builds. Actually, we spend quite a few weekends in Northern NSW on drives, particularly around Grafton, Glen Innes, Nymboida Corkscrew etc. @ZoomZoomMX-5 - I agree it is a pity Fujimi did not do the Mk2 NC. I do have a few of the Mazdaspeed NC kits which make the font end look nicer in my opinion. Will build one of these in Innocent Blue with the very common (in Australia at least) RX-8 wheel swap. |
