Paint blistering

Hi all

Haven't posted in some time but will soon.
I'm having a massive problem with paint blistering. The primer did it, so I sanded and cleaned properly and reprimed. Still blistered.
Sanded and tried to spray the paint colour on directly with the same result.
I've cleaned the plastic thoroughly and am now out of ideas.

What kind of paint, what kind of primer, how are you applying them?

Agree with Andy - first of all, what are you painting - plastic, resin, metal?
What primer, what paint, etc.

Sorry about this. I can't seem to upload pictures. Says invalid image file. I'm using jpg and jpeg. bmp also didn't work. Sizes are small too.
I'm painting an Italeri Plastic kit. The tank went perfectly. The fairing is a disaster.
I'm using Tamiya spray paints. The Surface Primer and the Silver Leaf (TS-30).

I've done this a number of times and never seen this happen.

Once sorted, I can post WIP. Trying to sort the poor join lines and get the body sorted.

Hmm, seems like this should be pretty straightforward then. One thing that I would suggest in this case, maybe try different can of paint/primer? How old are they? Did you use the same cans to paint the tank?

I'll upload later tonight. The odd thing is I'm using the same cans right now on a die cast restoration with no issues.

Its definitely the surface you are painting then, it usually is.
Does it do it all over, or just in certain spots?

Just in spots 360 spider. I figured its the surface, but cleaning it has yielded no positive results.

Plain water. I try avoid anything with soap and chemicals.
What's interesting is that it blisters immediately. As the primer or paint goes on I see it happening.

Arre there residues of enamel paint on the part? They react with wet Tamiya paints imediately.
Or oil or grease?
I never had issues with soap and Tamiya TS paints.
I'd wash the parts thoroughly with soap and water to remove anything that shouldn't be there.

I'll have to give the part a good scrub it seems. There shouldn't be any residue of anything on this as it's straight out the box and all the other parts are fine. I also can't see anything untoward.

I'll try the soap an water and advise.

Just try your regular Sunlight soap and let the parts air dry thoroughly.

Typically parts have a mold release agent on them, often it can be little enough to not be an issue but in some circumstances it can be enough to cause paint issues.

I use panel wipe same as used in auto body shops. Just wipe on with some tissue and it evaporates. It will clean any contaminants from the surface. You can use soap and water, but I find the panel wipe quicker as there's no drying time..

I was wondering if something like benzene would work and then let it evaporate properly?
