Sebring convertable starting issues

Got the car free from a friend who said if I can fix it i can have it. She just had motor rebuilt, it broke down and sat a while. After looking into fuel delivery everything appeared to be functioning but for the heck of it sprayed starting fluid in throttle body and she cranked and ran smooth! Put fuel system cleaner and she's running fine and starting on her own. Check engine light went out. Did I get lucky? I've read about ignition recalls does anyone know about this? Only other issue is motor bogs down and belt slips when you turn the wheel in park.
