Alfa 155 V6 Ti Martini, Tamiya, 1/24

Hi,

it's been a while since I finished the 1/12 Eagle - and I thought the best way to get the motivation back is to build another one of my favourite cars, this time the Alfa 155 in the DTM/ITC version in the greatest racing car livery of the world.

It's a typical Tamiya kit, only the floor panel could have done with 2 more holding pins, and the bonnet does not fit 100%. I could glue it on, then the gap would go away, but without glue there is a little bit too much stress for it to fit.

I painted the red areas and used Shunko decals, which are great in terms of colour, but are very hard to fit around edges, as they hardly react on softener. For the next one (another kit for Larini is in the stash) I'll use Tamiya decals and cut off the red.

I had one big "OOOOps" while building: I polished some dust out of the red on the bonnet, but the white came through below the dust. Therefore I carefully masked on top of the clear coat and repaired by spraying some red. Unfortunately I removed most of a Martini stripe with the masking tape. Fortunately I was able to peel off the stripe in parts from the tape with a scalpel and could puzzle it back in the gaps, so I had to touch up only small parts with a brush. If one of the touched up areas wouldn't have changed colour slighty und the following clear, it would be very hard to notice.

Painted with TS26, 8 29 and 30, Mr Hobby Super Clear on top, all decanted and airbrushed. I used Shunko decals and added some wires and seatbelts.

Hope you like it.

Looks good. I've always liked the way the engine bay is laid out in this kit.

looks great, also one of my favorite Martini marking

I have also found the Shunko decals a little stiff and not working well with decal softener.
but at least i can build some of my old tamiya kits without using old cracked decals

Excellent decal work! The new decals make this well-known kit look amazingly different.
