92 antenna doesn't go all the way down

it will make a few noises and then u get out and look at it it ranges from an inch to 8 inches sticking out,,, whats the cause of this?

The antenna mast is gummed up. Pull up the mast by hand and wipe it down with a solvent. You may need to do this a couple of times to get all the grim and dirt off of it. Then wipe on a light coat of oil. If this doesn't fix it, you will need a new mast. Cost is about $55.00.

is the mast just all u can see when the stereo is turned on and the antenna is all the way up? it has been doing this probably for like 5 years its hit it or miss like sometimes its goes in but not usually

The mast is the thing that goes up and down. Below the mast is the tube, a gear, motor and a storage reel for the nylon rod that pushes the mast up and pulls it down. If cleaning the mast doesn't do the trick, come back to us and we will tell you how to replace it.
