V-12 project
I was searching the web for a set of cams (no dice) and came across this cool site (am I in heaven, or what). It's really cool to see so many B.M.W. freaks out there.
I have a 5.0 out of a 750IL, but it's not going back into the same car. I have removed all of the electronics and installed H.E.I. distributors to the ends of the camshafts (mechanical advance units and M.S.D. compatable). I also removed the wimpy manifolds and am in the process of finishing up a tunnel-ram style intake manifold, which will have 3 webber D.C.O.E. carbs on top (a true 6-pack). As soon as the intake is done, and I can start the beast, scope out the vitals and check for any problems. It will be transplanted into the car and then a set of exhaust headers can be fabbed up. I made 12 exhaust flanges with short exit tubes for now (looks like something from a P-51). My question is, is there any suppliers of performance cams for the B.M.W. V-12? Can the stock ones be sent to a grinder (say, Comp Cams) for a more agressive pattern? After all the progress that I have made, it's a shame to be s.o.l. on the parts that can do the most good. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If anyone is interested, I'll have pictures soon. ---TEX--- Last edited by TEXAS-HOTROD; 07-04-2003 at 11:58 AM. |
