My 88 park avenue need help asap
Hey I have a 1988 Buick park avenue. I was having problems with my tail lights and running lights not working and I checked every wire and every bult and couldn't find a problem. My dad who has been a mechanic for over 20 years said it was probably the switch so I installed a new one. And now the fuse for the tail lights blows as soon as I turn them on. I have checked everything I could possibly think of and was wondering if anyone had any ideas for me to try

Re: My 88 park avenue need help asap
if its the parking light fuse thats blown you need to start taking the bulbs out and check them or put them back in one by one until fuse blows again or if you have old switch still, unplug new one and plug old one back in and see if fuse still blows

I feel dumb for having to ask this but if I had the dimmer wire grounded in the stereo harness could that have caused my problem

Re: My 88 park avenue need help asap
If you have the Illumination wire on the vehicle side of the radio wiring grounded, then, yes, it could explain a blown fuse for the taillights. I haven't looked a wiring diagram for your car to confirm the taillight fuse would be the one to blow, but conceptually it's possible. If you have the Dimmer wire on the radio grounded though, it would not explain the taillight fuse blowing.
