YAMAHA YZF-R1 (4XV) Matte Black ver.

This is my third try on this classic YZF-R1 kit from TAMIYA.

I implanted Front/Rear Ohlins suspension from 2004/05 YZR-M1.

Brake calipers are from 2009 YZR-M1 with 2004 type hose joints.

Slick tires are from a NSR500 kit which fit perfectly on these 17 inch wheels.

Exhaust silencer from 06-10' YZR-M1 Termignoni.

painted the cowlings with matte black while the aluminum fuel tank painted in gloss black.

hope you'll like this customized old super sports.

waiting for the new R1M kits.......TAMIYA Please!!!

Fantastic!
As you went through so much work customizing the kit I would have got rid of the licence plate holder, for a track like bike it looks a bit off.

This is very nice. Great build. Love the paint job. What brand of carbon decals did you use? Looks fantastic.

Yes..agree with your opinion.
The original plan was to remove all the lights (including front/rear headlights) and rear plate...

But it requires a lot more work, so I finally compromised.
Thanks to your precious comment, I'll try it on my future work!

the carbon decal is from KA models, an Korean brand.
Their previous carbon decals were printed by Cartograf, but now they are all printed in Korea to cost-down.
The quality isn't as good as before.
That a shame. It's hard to find another excellent carbon decals like that.
