Need help with subwoofers (I am a newbie)

So I am very new to the whole automotive hobby. The car I am currently working on just happens to also be my first car, a '95 Chevy Camaro V6 Convertible. I am going to be adding LED underglow and interior lighting, new wheels and rims, and many other things as I get the money.

But that's not why I am on the audio forum. I am looking to add some subwoofers into my car, but there is a small problem. I know absolutely nothing about subwoofers in general. I have been in contact with a representative from a company called Crutchfield, and he put together a package full of their products that I could buy and would work. However, I figured I could get a better package for cheaper by purchasing the parts seperately on Amazon.

As I said before, I am new to all of this so I don't know if this combination will even work or not. Let me know if i'm missing anything or if I would blow my car up if I tried to use these. Feel free to laugh at the newbie

Here is what I have put together:

Dual BP1204 12-inch 1100 watt illumination bandpass subwoofer
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...A1DXN92KCKEQV4

Boss KIT-2 Complete 8-gauge amplifier installation kit
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Boss Audio R1100M Mosfet Monoblock Power Amplifier with Remote Subwoofer Level Control
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

I don't mind installing, or putting in a little hard work to get it done, just wanted to make sure I was on the right track.

PLEASE feel free to give me any advice or recommendations that you have. I need it.

Re: Need help with subwoofers (I am a newbie)

So I messed around with my car a bit today, and discovered that the previous owner actually installed hidden subwoofers right before i bought it! I never even knew!

On the bright side, I saved myself $200-$300 and my car shakes the entire garage. So satisfied.

I will be removing this thread asap if that is possible, and if this is not down soon, could some of you forum veterans help me out?

Crutchfield is expensive. Convertibles are notoriously hard to get good bass in, so good luck with that.

Convertible roof takes a dump on the acoustics and kills a whole lot of trunk space. I'm curious, what kind of subs/enclosure did he install?

Re: Need help with subwoofers (I am a newbie)

Crutchfield is expensive as people are saying but there are 2 things to note about them. They give you all sorts of free stuff when you order (if you order a radio, they will give you the master install sheet and normally a dash install kit which are pretty expensive for just a fancy piece of plastic). 2nd note : they know what they're doing. I have 2 jobs both audio related. 1st job im am audio engineer for a club in a city near me. Side job: I install car audio and troubleshoot any automotive electrical problem. So when I say crutchfield knows what they're doing, I mean it. It's not something I say about many people.
