Skyline GTS

Hi,
I own a Skyline GTS 4 door Auto HR32 1989,Could someone please tell me whether they use the "Hold"and "Power" buttons by the Auto shift?, And if so do they really work and waht are the benefits. Any help on this matter would be gratefully received.

Cheers,

Paul.

I use the 'power' button in me Mum's car (1.6 corolla) quite a bit, and it makes a huuuuuge amount of difference.

To compare, my girlfriend's auto twin turbo 300zx also has a power button, and from what I can tell it makes no difference whatsoever..

Never tried it (or even driven) a Skyline tho..

The power button makes the car hold onto lower gears until about 5000 rpm instead of changing around 3000. Hold will keep it in whatever gear (1 2 or 3) you have selected with the shift lever.

My GTS was auto, and I found that I didn't need them too much; partially because I just changed gear with the shift lever anyway (prolly not too good for the trans), and partially because after I reset the ECU, it figured out that I liked it to rev up to 7500....so it did....regularly...without using the power button even.

hold button ?
i have power , auto , snow.
as mentioned the power switch , will hold revs in the lower gears
on full burn though mine does hold, until 7000rpm
just leave it in power , it will still change at lower revs , but it takes longer to decide. saying that , even in auto mode ive had it changing at 7000 , but only on full burn .
oh yes snow switch changes gear at lower revs , 2 get u into the high gears quickly
ie changes at 2000 revs.

yeah - the R33 is different. I wonder though if the snow button does act like the hold button - if your shift lever is in 3 or D, will it "hold" in 3rd, and not kick down to 2nd - even at low speeds ?
