Faulty bulb dash indicator light on but all lights are working.

I recently purchased a 1994 Camry LE Wagon 3.0 for a reliable work car. I've spent the last week correcting mechanical issues the previous owner didn't. (Tune up, filters, struts.....)

When I start the car the "failed bulb" indicator light located to the left of the Tachometer is off, but as soon as I touch the brake to put the car in "D" the indicator light comes on and stays on until the next time I start it. I have checked EVERY exterior bulb several times with the car in park, not running. In park with the car running and the same in drive. All exterior lights work but this indicator light won't go off when the car is running.

Is there a fuse, sensor or relay somewhere on this car which may be the source of this problem?

Wanting to "Turn off the Lights!"

Did you check the brake light in the rear window (Hi-mount stop light)? Also, if the Hi-mount stop light is working, I would replace all the rear bulbs which light up when braking. They can give a bad resistance even when working which probably means they are soon to fail.

The rear 3rd brake light is working. I actually put in all new bulbs for the brake, turn, reverse and license plate.

Re: Faulty bulb dash indicator light on but all lights are working.

I recently had this problem with my '94 sedan. I changed all the bulbs as you did and the problem still remained. Long story short... I had a bad wire near the trunk lid hinge. I spliced it and the problem was fixed. Perhaps you have a short where your wiring enters the rear gate of your wagon. Wiggle the wires while someone is watching that obstinate dash light to see if it blinks at all... if it does, you found your problem! Hope this helps! :-)
