2005 Corolla CE "Maintenance Required"

My 05 corolla has a "maintenance required" light that has come on on the right side of my dash. I have taken care of the car and changed the oil every 3000 miles. I have changed the oil myself though so i dont have to pay 30 dollars for 8 dollars worth of oil. I'm thinking this light is just some programmed reminder, but if anybody knows what this light is and how i can turn it off please let me know. Thank you.

the only thing I'd know to try is disconnecting then reconnecting the battery but then you'd have to reprogram your radio/clock which is alot of hassle when you can just go to the dealer and have them turn it off with their diag computer without the hassle of setting the radio/clock.

Doesn't your owner's manual give you instructions on how to stop that light?

1. Turn ignition key to the "OFF" position with the odometer reading shown.
2. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position while holding down the trip meter reset knob.
Hold down the button at least 5 seconds. The odometer indicates "000000" and the light goes off.
If the system fails to reset, the light will continue flashing.

Re: 2005 Corolla CE

Hello Brackhor:

Yes, I got the same "Maint Required" light on at 5000 miles. Followed your instructions and it went off. Thanks for the help.... Oh, I did not see it listed in the manual on how to turn this thing off. Now, "check engine" light is a complete different animal. If that comes on, then I take it to Auto Zone and they plug it in for free and give you the codes and read out.

Re: Re: 2005 Corolla CE

I stand corrected......on page 114 of the 2005 Owners Manual it explains that this light indicates " Engine Oil Replacement Reminder." The system must be reset after the engine ol replacment.

Re: 2005 Corolla CE "Maintenance Required"

I noticed you've already been advised on how to reset the "oil change reminder". However, I'm curious about the "Tighten Drive Shaft Bolt" maintenance requirement that "Mother Toyota" says is required on 05-07 Corollas every 5K. Did you do it yourself? My local dealers are ignorant of this procedure although Toyota Inc (& owner's manual) say is required. I can't find the bolt or specs on it's tightening....
