died, won't start

Hi all,

My 1994 wt 1500 V6 about 75k mi was running perfectly.

Yesterday I was using it and when I went to start it
it started, then stumbled and died. tried a few times
it stumbled a few and would not start at all.

I tried poring some gas down the injector and it started.

I'm thinking fuel pump, any place I should look before I have
to drop the tank.

The pump is electric. Therefore, anything that disrupts proper operation of the electric motor--corroded connections, broken wires, etc.--will cause problems.

The actual pump part can fail, too, as can the in-tank plumbing. You've already checked to see if the fuel filter is plugged...right?

Next step is to verify fuel pressure, and if it's low, to verify that the pump is getting proper voltage and proper ground. Keep in mind that there's a wire harness INSIDE the fuel tank, and they're a common corrosion point. Some fuel pumps even come with a replacement in-tank harness, it's so common.

This harness was purchased for my Lumina, but it's similar if not identical to the one in my '88 K1500. The replacement harness is a longer, "universal fit" item.
