91 Corolla is lurching and misfiring

my 91 corolla likes to lurch and misfire. also there seems to be a slight loss of power to the engine. clutch isn't slipping. whats going on? friend said it might be the distributor

Sounds like an ignition problem.

Check your plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, coil.

My toyota is still sputtering. I replaced the oxygen sensor and the fuel filter. Both havent been touched in years. I don't know what's wrong. Took it to the shop and they can't figure it out either

Did you test your ignition as I suggested?

Even if the coil tested good, as long as you can't locate the problem, I would replace the coil. It is the weak spot in the ignition.
