fixing air foil Pontiac Grand AM GT 2001

The center post on my air foil broke off under my front bumper, and I would like to fix it. We have an Idea where we take an aluminum strip and drill into the car body. I am thinking that I might compromise my Ram Air, and I dont want to do that. Maybe I just need a better understanding of the Ram Air. Does it reside entirely higher than I am thinking of drilling?

what do you guys think?
