night drags at meremere

who went down to the night drags at meremere on friday night?

i went down and raced for the first time, it was awesome
i only got 4 qualifying runs and 15.2 was my best time, not as good as expected but it was allright

unfortuanetly i got eliminated on my first run due to a bad start with no traction until i hit 3rd and by then it was all over, and i pulled a very bad time and that was that, but i had an awesome time though anyway

anyway how did u racers do anyway?

Night Drags

Dudes and Dudettes,

apparently won the 4WD section in his R33 GTR VSpec, does anybody have the times?
Who else went? Did any body break anything? What was the turnout like? How was the weather?

Do tell! I miss Champion Dragway

Brendon,

Mark's best time was a 12.1 I did not go as I thought I had recaps on my new wheels aquired recently but turns out they are not, bugger. I also heard the track was shocking. Very slippery as even Mark was getting lost of traction when he tried to launch hard.

General consensus was it the times were not as good as to be expected, though Arnie pushed Jonha's R34 into the low 11's. The Croydon mobile got hurt again, possibly head gasket damage or worse. Not sure as again just word of mouth but I will be in touch with them this week.

Joe got his R down for it first run.....still had only done 900km on a new motor. He managed 12.17 @ 1bar so its looking good, just needs a bit more tunning and additional boost and I think we will have another mid 11 GTR Good work from Mark, glad to see you upset the 20plus evo/gsr's down there

Graeme won he rwd class in his supra.....he looked like he was going to lose the final but the S6 RX7 he was racing hit the wall then shot over into his lane giving him the win.

Someone lodged a complaint against me and tried to have me banned from running in the 2WD class, I think the whole basis of the argument was that who could tell that I didnt have a switch and just flick it on to 4wd whenever I liked. However it didnt really hold water as I dont have a front drive axel in the car atm anyway so they let me run. The tyres I had arranged didnt eventuate on the night so I was forced to run on my 16inch 225's which were a waste of time.....hmmm the car was still spinning the wheels in 4th. I did manage a best time of 14.1 with wheel spin all the way down the track so with the right rubber I know I can get the old girl into the low 13's at least.

Anyway they pissed me off some Im gonna run 2wd for the rest of the season. Just sorting out some big rubbeer for the back of the GTR then it will just be a matter of getting the 260 odd kw's to the ground

Well I finally broke into the 12's:smoker2:

I ran a 12.8 during elimination. But on the next run I blew the clutch, a pity because the car felt like it was going to do better than a 12.8.

Oh well I should have the new clutch in by the next meeting. Good on Mark for winning the elimination, cause those Evo guys don't like us in the same class as them.

I cant wait to have my car going ,I could have had alot of fun on Friday. the EVO crowd will become alot stronger when Brett Lee gets the Autronic in his car , but he might have to run in the Pro import class as he already does 11.2 and 10.99 is not too far away.

I wasn't happy with the performance of V Spec at the drags and the IDrag's prior to that. A split intercooler hose was the culprit! Problem now fixed (temporarily until I can get a metal tube set). Those 11's are now in sight!

Hi Brett,

The clutch that I've ordered is nothing flash, its the same one which is in my boys car which is a ceramic paddle clutch. I was going to get a twin plate clutch but decided that its not necessary and too expensive.

Heh felix lets put some 225's on the back of your car and see how you go then dude......

I have a couple of fm901's on the back however they didnt really help me much with traction
