Jaguar XJS TWR sports UTE (pickup conversion)

This time I'm building the abbreviation nightmare

Base kit is the Jaguar XJS TWR sports from Hasegawa. I never liked the ugly plastic bumpers TWR put on this otherwise beautiful car. I thought about making it a phantom racer with big fender flares and heavily modded bodykit....but then I found a better solution. I am converting it to a UTE (utility vehicle = pickup). It will pull a trailer loaded with a Jaguar XJS H.E. TWR in full race trim.

I started with outlining the cutting lines:

After sawing and moving the rear roof section forward it looks like this:

Now I have to shape it. Don't expect updates before next weekend

C&C as always welcome.

Cheers
Sebastian

Hola! What a cool project!

It must make you feel a bit like the King of Brunei
Doesn't he always convert his supercars into break versions to do his shopping at Harrods?

Lol exactly! Any plans for other modifications? What wheels are you planning to use? I've always wanted to see someone build this kit, stock or modified.

Cool, an El Camino-ish Jaguar!!! This will be neat to see built. Great idea, should be fun for you.

Re: Jaguar XJS TWR sports UTE (pickup conversion)

I worked on the engine a bit last night...

Drilled 13 holes in the distributor...

...and wired the engine (1-4-9-8-5-2-11-10-3-6-7-12):

And as there are 4 more XJS in my to do pile - I'll go distributorless on all of them

Oh, BTW: The engine is far from being finished...lots of bits and pieces to add. It is almost like an Enthusiast engine (but better fitting).

Cheers
Sebastian

Got a bit more work on the engine done. Don't worry - the paint will be touched up once it is fiinished.

Nice! Are those Jaguar emblems molded to the valve cover? They look real.
