I have had my 1995 Diablo for almost one year now.
The problems I have had are as follow; 1- clutch pump failure (HK$ 3500 by my own mechanic) 2- engine warning light failure (not fixed problem disappeared) 3- brake warning light failure (not fixed problem disappeared) |

$3500 is pocket change to a Lambo owner

Problems I've had?
98 SV. Too many problems to mention here! If you come across a 98 SV, Red/Tan, over 13k miles - I suggest you stay away from it 99 VT Roadster. Leaking shocks. Factory warranty paid for that, as it happened at 190 miles 99 VT. Squealing belt / had to replace belt & fix broken tension bolt. Costed over $1000 US Leaking shocks. Hit a bump and hosed the shock. $1350 for the shock, $400+ for labor :help: |

Since the 80's, I've heard endless stories about how unreliable lambos are. I hate hearing this because it's a car I've dreamed of owning my whole life. I'm finally at a point where I can afford an older one (maybe a 94 or 95 diablo) but because of the reliability issues, I'm thinking maybe I should go for a new NSX or Viper. For the price, you'd think lamborghini would build cars capable of passing a NASA space shuttle inspection.

unfortenately it seems it's true
Althought some owners don't have any problems, there are many full of them. I really hope - and it seems as it is happening already - that Audi will do a good job increasing the reliability and quality standards of Lambos!Either way, the majority of problems happen to used Lambos and I think we can figure out why! A good background check of the car and owners is really important when buying a used one. |

My 95 Diablo needed a recent clutch change at 12000 kms.
Cost HK$ 50000 ( about US$ 7000) |

I suppose if you wanted to live out your dream you could go with a 1994 or 1995 and deal with reliability issues plaguing all years or start out with an early 90's model for a little more than a new Viper. Mind you maintenance will still cost and arm and a leg, but better you bought a cheaper one and had problems than a newer one costing more than most houses and had problems. Just my insight into your situation. BTW, Judging from the Columbia incident, NASA shuttle inspections aren't all they're cracked up to be.

My car has 28,000km, and clutch is as new. 0 problems as of yet. People who have to change their clutch at such an early time are either extremely abusive,or dont know how to drive. My Countach had 70,000+km on its original clutch, and still going strong.

My uncle is a mechanic for Motorcars International a premiere Lambo delaer here in the US. Anyways, he tells me all kinds of horror stories about lamborghinis. Most lamobrghinis have to have a MAJOR service every 30,000 miles. Like an overhaul service .. it is very major and very expensive. Thats why lamobs with higher mileage are sold cheaper and you dont hardly see many lamborghinis with over 30,000 miles.... He said they are real bad about clutches burning up and brakes wearing ... he has to repiar brakes all the time ... its hios most common problem

This is bull.Theres nothing to overhaul. The car has a timing chain (no belt) so it needs no replacing and the spark plug change will take all of 45 minutes. So if a major overhaul consists of fluid changes and any of you potential owners cant get that done on your own then maybe you should be shopping for one of those Kia optimas that have a 100k mile warranty.I had heard of the so called horror stories before I bought my car then I saw how easy it was to work on.In fact the guy I bought my car from had a previous Diablo with 60k miles on it before he sold it.
