Question Best mudd tires for the X

I just went ahead and bought an X in March, read so many good things about it on these posts... I'm out here in sunny Oahu and there are trails-a-plenty...Question for all you experts..being that I'm relatively new at offroading, what would be a good set of mud tires for my machine? I am going to give it a 3" body lift, a 3" suspention lift, and new skid plates. I've read about Super Swampers and BFG's but I'm at a loss for what the best all around tires are...I'm looking for somthing beefy but I'll be commuting in this also, so tire wear is a concern! Thanks for your help all!!!!

Wecome aboard!

I'd get the BFG Mud terrains for all around use. I have a set of street tires and a Set of Swampers for the weekends.

While I'm no expert, I concur with rr. I'm currently running 32" Swamper TSLs and I love them on the trail. However, Swampers don't wear so good. My next tire will probably be the BFG MT KM. You can get more than twice the miles out of a set of BFG muds as oppossed to swampers and the difference in offroad performance is not that significant.

You might also want to consider the Interco Trxus.

The site was down when I typed this.
I can't give you details about how the Trxus will last (since they are a new tire) but they seem to be a great tire so far.

I also have only heard good things about the BFG MT KM's

Well I have the trxu's and they are at about 15,000 miles. They have lost about an eighth of their tread so far. They perform fantastically off road in just about any conditions. They are siped so they do outperform the bfg m/t's on wet pavement.

A few things you have to keep in mind though when you get any kind of mud tire is that it is a MUD tire. You will have to contend with vibration coming through the gas pedal. They will make noise as you drive down the street. Even siped mud tires still do not grab as well as street tires in wet pavement. Mud tires dig big holes in any kind of terrain when they spin. You cannot spin on loose terrain trying to get traction all that you will do is dig a big hole. Your spare will look goofy if you put it underneath the truck. It will look like the X is pooping. Regardless of the brand, a mud tire will wear faster than an all terrain tire.

That being said, I went with mud tires since I wanted the added performance off-road and the look. The trxu is a great looking tire it definitely looks mean on the X. I personally love them and after the double lift I will probably get the same tires in a 33.

Where did you get those numbers? Not doubting you, I'd just like to see them. Also, aren't the Xterrains directional tires? Perhaps I'm thinking about something else, but I thought these were directional?
