Need help!!
help!!!!
My neighbor tried to install timing belt on 99 eclipse and took off both cam shaft gears. Now he's asking for help. I told him I would look up some stuff online. If possible does anyone know how to reinstall gears to correct timing??? |

Re: Need help!!
you should be able to find a step by step how to sheet somewhere's, I have them in my hand right now because I work at Dodge and have access to that kinda stuff. but you can look it up online if he's not sure what mark means what. and if you give me some time I can write you a detailed how to if you want and or if you haven't gotten it fixed yet haha! so just reply and let me know. I'll check tomorrow on it and begin to write what the sheets say. I too have a eagle talon. and have taken the head apart quite a bit.

Re: Need help!!
You may want to order the big bore 3mm lifters.. and get a titanium 3mm drill bit for your rockers and drill the holes out in them. Lifters are only 80$ save you trouble down the line.

If anything when taking it apart mark it with a marker where it was before!

Re: Need help!!
Scratch that with the lifters, You can just take them out and stick them in diesel for awhile and then pump each one, every few hours until the soot comes out, then when the cams are figured out you can re-install them, just pump them back up with oil first

Re: Need help!!
make sure the dials on the cams are straight up and put the cam gears back on with the timing slits flush with the head. and the small holes you will see left is at 3 oclock and right is at 9 oclock. dont quote me on the left and right it may be backwards haha. but thats how you put the cam gears back on.
