engine just stops

Chevrolet c/k 1500 1996 6.5 l diesel v8
The above is having a intermittent fault every now and then while driving the engine just stops starts straight back up again .have replaced fuel and air filters checked fuel.happend three or four times today including in town where today it did not start up again until I got a jump start .then again on the way home it did the same engine just stops but starts up again. I am thinking that it could be electrical some bad earth somewhere but where should I start. I would like at this stage to point out I am in Santo Vanuatu without a garage to take it to, any help would be great
