AirBrush for Beginner Question!

Hey guys. I have a question What is the best airbrush to get? I don't want to spend expensive airbrush cause that would be over my budget. Here is the link I was about to get. If this not great, What other kind that are good?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-3-Airbru...item4ab1215f79
I was about to get this since this one sold a lot. But idk if it's good to paint on cars or not.

Re: AirBrush for Beginner Question!

I started with Paasche H. I still use it. With some practice, I was able to do this with it.

The tool is only as good as the wielder.

Re: AirBrush for Beginner Question!

Best and cheapest don't go along. 3 airbrush and a compressor for $109 will not be as good as a paasche, badger or iwata aibrush that cost more than this for the airbrush alone.

I use an Iwata hp-cp, but it will cost you about $200 for the airbrush alone. And it's not even "the best".

My first was a badger anthem 155. Should be around $80

Re: AirBrush for Beginner Question!

agreed, raise your budget a bit, say $200, and get the quality airbrush from the start, so you're learning on it & can utilize it long term, rather than thinking 'I can buy a better one later & learn on this cheap one'

this is a decent ebay seller I've used, sells some packages also, with good return policy

this is a Paasche H set they sell
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Paasche-H-SET...item5af2be040d

or an Iwata complete set with compressor, dryer, regulator, for example
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/IWATA-Eclipse...item5af23f0c1f

Re: AirBrush for Beginner Question!

As a airbrush user for several years who still considers myself a beginner, don't skimp on the compressor either.

You want a moisture trap and a pressure regulator

As far as the airbrush, get one that has a good reputation. If you were hoping to spend $40-$50, but find a good one for $80, get it over with and just get it. You can grow into it and use it for a long time. Like Tonio showed, he still uses the one he started with.

Also, some can handle certain solvents and some can't. Make sure you know what your airbrush can take. For example, I ruined my Paasche seals with lacquer thinner, but my new one can handle it.

I would definitely go with something the guys recommend on this forum, they know what they're doing.

Hansa Harder. stainless steel and incredibly good.
mine is 10 yrs old and still works perfectly with everything.

Yeah I'm looking for a set with compressor and other stuff so I don't have to buy separately. So the one you sent me link is the best one to get for beginner?

Re: AirBrush for Beginner Question!

I'm not a fan of bottom feed airbrush, but that's a matter of taste.

I would go with an iwata HP-CS kit like this one: (using a seller mentioned higher in this thread, you can check for better price)

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/IWATA-HP-CS-E...item20d492deb2

You would have basically everything you ever need in this set.

Just a couple of examples I pulled from that seller, about the two brand names being spoken about, Paasche and Iwata
I didn't go through all their listings, there might be a better combo, personally I prefer a gravity feed dual action type
There is possible other sellers with same type of packages, but I posted this one because that's who I ordered from, and had no problems
Definitely a package complete like that is the best way to start IMO, and to budget for the best you can afford from the start

Re: AirBrush for Beginner Question!

Iwata is near "top of the line" brand while Paasche is "great bang for the buck". Both are great, but iwata is higher quality (except the Neo line, which is made cheaper)

I thought I read that NEO line was to be like a beginner series range.

I have nothing really add, I use a Habor Freight A/B and Compressor, double action, it works, does what I ask it to , with little problems, for me, my only use for a A/B is for painting bodys, parts, and it does that fine.

If I were to keep it clean better, I wouldnt have any problems with it all I think

Exactly. It's made by another brand than iwata, they just rebrand it on their name. It's good, just not up to Iwata standard. And while you are paying nearly $80 for it, you are usually less than $40 shy from an Eclipse which is a great airbrush. Worth saving for the upgrade

A "beginner" status won't last long
So eventually you gonna spend more while upgrading your stuff
And you will feel the need for upgrade pretty soon
I would recomend to get the things that you still will be happy to use in couple of years from now- Iwata Eclipse is a decent choice
