95 windstar ccrm mystery :)
evening all. I have a 95 windstar that I am having cooling issues with. I keep loosing water with no visible exits. Checked to see if fans would come on to no avail. In looking on the web It seems as though I should have a ccrm. There is nothing in that location other then the cable that would plug into it ( if it were there ) I don't remember anything ever being there and if it also houses the fuel pump relay the van would not run, which it does. The temp guage also does not work ( unrelated I think) I guess my question is, were these vans made with out the ccrm and if so where would I find the fan relays. Thanks guys

Re: 95 windstar ccrm mystery :)
I had a '96 Windstar.
The pictures that I have show it up front, next to the radiator on the driver's side. I don't have access to the Alldata information for other years, so if it was ever in a different location, I would not know. The temperature gauge uses a different sensor than the computer, both located near the thermostat. The other thing relative to the radiator fans is the radiator fan dropping resistor. This is a common fail item, and when it fails, you will not have any low speed fan operation, just the high speed. The link in my signature takes you to pictures from my '96, which also has pictures of the dropping resistor. You have most likely already read the common causes for loss of coolant.....Front cover (aka timing cover) gasket, lower intake manifold gaskets, or maybe head gasket ('95 was the year for that on the windstar 3.8L). The other question I have is if you have the 3.8L engine or the 3.0L engine. The coolant loss things I mention are for the 3.8L engine. The 3.0L engine is less common, so less information is posted about it in the windstar. However, the 3.0L engine was more reliable in the windstar than the 3.8L. The down side to it being more reliable is that there are fewer solutions posted.

Just found your pics of the ccrm so will look in that location also. My manual says it is up top on the battery box

On my '97's, they are down below the air intake plastic gizmo ... near the left fender, just behind the LH headlamp fixture.

Re: 95 windstar ccrm mystery :)
@ wiswind., Perfect job. Went out to the van and found both the ccrm and the dropping resister, just where you show them. Now to remove them and hopefully the junk yard has them lol. Again thanks for the help
