Overhead info console blank

2002 Jeep GC the overhead console has gone dark. The two interior lights on either side work so there is power at that point. Is this an item that is prone to failure? Also the display on the radio is dark. These two issues occurred at different points in time. Radio still works fine just no display. Thanks, Keith
