Post Camshaft Position Sensor

I have a check engine light that is on. When I am driving at highway speeds the car stutters. I had a diagnostics done at a parts store. They told me that the check engine light is on because of the camshaft position sensor. Can someone tell me where this sensor is located. If possible does anyone have a diagram or a photo of the location of the sensor?

It is on the front of the engine block.

This link shows you how to test the Cam sensor, and replace it.

Says Grand Am but it covers your 1998 Cutlass.

Re: Camshaft Position Sensor

Actually, the camshaft position sensor on a 1998 Olds Cutlass 3.1L is behind the power steering pump. Under it. It must be removed first. Sorry. Only the electrical plug-in connection is on the front of the block for ease of testing. You may use a multimeter and wire probe on this connection to find out if you have the proper ground and voltage, as stated elsewhere. But in order to change the actual sensor, you must remove the power steering pump.
