Thomas Bscher

Did he own an F1?

I have a pic of dec. 1995 of a silver F1 displayed at a Dutch show and lately someone told me Thomas Bscher was the owner...

What chassis could it be?

Re: Thomas Bscher

He apparently owns / owned 2 GTR's, both he raced, #03R and #22R, and did own #022 when he did the famous '200+mph commute' that baffled the F1 technicians back in Woking

Re: Thomas Bscher

Thomas owned a pair of GTRs - #03R and #22R - and his F1 road car, which he was the original owner of, was #022 painted 'Genesis Dark Blue'.

Here's a shot of 022 from when he had it:

Note the green leather side seats and yellow insert on the driver's seat.

Also, DocGTR shared an image of him and his F1 in an article recently:

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...8&postcount=13

Roger shared this image of it and XP5 a while back in a thread that tells the current story of this chassis:

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...8&postcount=33

Now there's always a chance he picked up a silver one after selling #022, but that's something I've never heard or seen before.

I think I only have 3 pics of it whilst it was with TB too

[It states in the text that he bought it in November 1994]

I have a few more than that which I'll share when I return home.

Also, as I commented privately to someone the other day - I think the 'German connection' on chassis #015 is a product of gerd's past comments here, as he attributed all the F1s that came in through Amerispec Corp as coming from Germany. Leno's wasn't one of the 7 "Ameritech F1s" but was imported through the same company. While part of the trick of importing them might have involved shipping through Germany, that doesn't necessarily mean that was where they lived at any time in their lives.

For instance, Herb Chamber's Ameritech F1 (chassis #044) came into the USA with a UK plate on its nose, so I'd suspect that was perhaps its previous location.

Re: Thomas Bscher

Thomas Bscher also owned GTR 24R.

Which John Nielsen destroyed at Suzuka.

The aftermath of that crash! (clickable)

But wasn't it just on a loan from BMW as Bscher's 22R was in repairs due to the LM'97 engine compartment fire? I haven't read anywhere that it would have been sold to Bscher, only loaned. Later after extensive repairs 24R was sold to EMKA, which raced it the 1998 season.

Re: Thomas Bscher

Fortunately that #24R were built back to shape. Must say it was defenitely huge crash. GT Endurance 1997 book also notised that crash on the text.

Le Mans would be my guess too. Image quality refers to a video, as well as the background details to a similar kind of track as Le Mans (e.g. yellow tire walls). As the details are very scarce, I would try to track that down with the help of that "PlayStation" Porsche on the front. The resolution of that screen grab is so low that it is impossible to see the details on the front of the 24R, if it's LM'97 pre-qualifying or the race weekend.

I think it's not the BMW Motorsports GTR's, doesn't seem to be FINA liveried GTR.
Could this be example 1998 Le Mans?
