Just Wondering????
Just wanted to get a few thoughts on an engine I got in a trade... So i recently traded a truck for a truck and got an engine as boot, this is a pre 1980's 350 4 bolt main bored 30 over, comp magnum cam, clevite bearings, SRP pistons and the big 2.02 valve chevy heads, roller timing chain and a twisted snout weiand water pump...The engine is complete from the heads to the pan and got all the papers with it, but this engine has never been cranked!!! it has sit in storage for 3 years it has assembley lube all thru, but i'm wondering should i just finish the build out? or tear it apart re-lube and new gaskets? Also notice that the heads do not have screw in studs, they have press in with a roll pin looks like ran thru the pedestal
never seen that before, is that ok?Thanks guys for any input!!!!!! |

Re: Just Wondering????
If the engine was properly lubed and sealed up ( bagged) before storage you should be ok, you must prime the engine( oil press.) before firing, very important. Pinned studs are ok assuming the cam does not have crazy lift and duration and the matching springs, post the cam and spring specs.
