Serpintine belt keeps breaking?!

I have a 2005 Chevy Impala 3.4. In the past 3 months I have gone through 3 serpentine belts, 3 tension pullies and the belt keeps breaking. The pullies all seem to be ok but i replace them cause they are under warrenty. I notice the belt over hangs the tension pulley about 1/8 inch. When the belt breaks it breaks at the 1/8 overhang at the tread. The only other issue I experienced on the drive line is on 2 occasions in the past 7000 miles the tempetures gauge went over the normal mark. oh and yes it squeals but with a little dry hand soap rubbing on track of belt temporarily relieves the squeal. All suggestions welcome.

And you wonder why you have a problem? If the belt overhangs by 1/8", then you have an alignment problem....one of the pulleys is not in alignment, probably because a bracket is out of whack, or the tensioner pulley you have replaced is the wrong one....

I saw a 3.1 have the water pump wrapped wrong- running it backwards but still not over heating - are you sure your belt is wrapped right? smooth pulleys run on back side (smooth) of belt- ribbed pulleys use inside of belt

Tech II is correct. You'll have to get in there with a straight edge across all pulleys,2 at a time to see which one is out of whack. With belt removed check all pulleys first for excessive in/ out movement. Then make sure all accesories are mounted correctly and perpendicular to the belts travel. Make sure all pulleys are in the same plane.
