Chrome Aston Martin DBS Volante

Conversion of the Tamiya kit; roof chopped, rear body re-shaped, scratch built tonneau cover and wind deflector. Finished in Tamiya Light Gunmetal then buffed with metal powder.

Used Hobby Design wheels and KA etch.

Oooh, shiny. Seriously, nice build and detail. Sometimes the oddest things catch my eye - like the part of the engine bay between the engine and the grill. Just looks perfect in the photos. You're probably thinking "All the time I put into highlighting the stitching on the seats and he notices the sheet metal in the engine bay?" What can I say?

Its awesome! Very unique. I might have swapped out the tires - aren't they a bit wobbly on the HD wheels?

Pegasus Michelin Pilots; they're what came in the Tamiya 350Z, are a good choice for these (and the stock DBS) wheels. They stretch nicely and have better sidewall detail than most modern kit tires. I think Pegasus knows who has the tire mold; they don't get the tires from Tamiya. Every time I see Rick/Scale Dreams at a show, I pick up a few sets for the parts box. I think they're only $4 a set.

I wasn't thrilled that the wheels have female receptors...for a Tamiya model that uses male connectors...

Re: Chrome Aston Martin DBS Volante

I have the DBS under the knife ATM, but I'm having a wee bit of a problem with the CF decals. I cannot get them to fit nice'n smooth. It's SCMS stuff and even with SET & SOL I can't get them right, in the front splitters not to mention on the rear diffusor. Maybe I'll just paint them SGB?!!

Outstanding I love the modifications and finish. Btw where did you get the metal powder? I really need one to finish my Mclaren mp4-25 but I can't find any.
