The '86 is probably not the fastest car on the block. I would say the Honda is faster.

check that out, u may have to use a diff year or similar car but that shoudl give you a general idea, my guess form experience is handling the Rx-7 will own the honda. jump of the line i give to the rx-7 but in the higher gears and top speed maybe the honda can take it. both are rather slow cars sorry to say... -GTi-VR6_A3

Both stock, rotary non-turbo.....
I'd have to say 1/8mile definitely Civic, 1/4mile Civic by small margin.....But Id say its all Rotary at the top end. Both are awsome cars. I love the Turbo II Fc Rx-7's

ok...i have a 1986 RX-7 GXL. with 146 hp. it says 0-60 in 8.4 sec. 1/4 mile stock is 16.5 seconds...now...owning a 1989 Civic Si also (before i wrecked it) it didnt seem to get up to 60 as fast as my dad's truck...(2002 GMC Sierra with dual exhaust and a K&N Air Filter) i timed my dad's truck with on passenger (oh ya...it also has a tonaue cover) at 7.4 seconds. i KNOW my Si wasnt that fast...but the RX-7 seems like its faster than my dad's truck. but hey...i'll race him soon so i'll let u guys know. and if i loose i can always go and race H4Bangin's "Slow Ass DX"
that is until he puts my Si engine in. lata |

The factory claimed 1/4 ET on the Si is 16.2 for the hatch...
I know its hard to believe, but Si's are deceptively fast when running right.
