So what is everyones favorite Chevelle? Year, engine, options? Personally I have been in love with '70 Chevelle's since I was a boy. I owned one when I was 20 but it was stolen about a year after I bought it.

So you were never able to find out who stole it?
How did it happen?

Never found the car or who did it. They must have pushed it or towed it, I had it rigged pretty good so it would not have been possible to drive it off.

...btw, sorry to hear about that, crash!

I know how it feels, I spent every penny I made when I was a kid for 2 years on a new mountain bike.. cost me 3 grand.. had it stolen a month and a half later out of the back of my dad's truck.. no insurance on it

Sorry I don't know more about it than this, but the '71 (I think the SS) is my Chevelle of choice. There is a guy at the Bridgeport, CT. Dept of Public Works with a really nice black one.

Hey I hear all of you guys. How about going from a smart spend-thrifty teen (I spent no money in high school) to a guy in his 20's who discovers materialism, speed, and can't stop throwing money into his Honda? Yeah, it's mean, its fast, it handles like a gem, and you know what? It's still useless with half a foot of snow outside!!!

I think my favorite was the 67-68. I like the body style, clean. My first car was a 64 coupe. I bought it from my uncle for 125 bucks. Rebuit a 283 and replaced the six cylinder. Painted it gloss black and put on some chrome wheels, headers... It looked sharp. The 283 was a nice running engine, you could pull high RPM. I think if I had it to do again I would look for a 327, which produced more torque and HP.

The Chevelle was a stunning car. I think they got progressively better, year by year. My favourites would be the 1970/71. I think they peaked in 1970 but I like the round tail lights of the 71.

'69 SS

I've had two '68s and still own a '69 SS, I used to love the '70, but they have gotten way too popular. I just seem to love my '69 with a 625HP 427 ( COPO replacement "crate" motor installed by dealer, no longer stock though) . I built the motor myself along with the 'glide tranny (6000 rpm stall 8" convertor). So far it's gone 6.80@ 92mph in the eighth mile , pulling the front wheels about 3-4 inches off the ground at launch!!. My next favorite chevelle has to be the '66 SS, it's just a sweet looking ride!
