Fob is failing

Anyway to repair a fob?

All buttons work except for the unlock button. If I swap the pad out with my wife's all is good.

Actually I fixed it myself.

For those interested.
Like I said it still worked, just not all the buttons, but when I swapped the buttons with my spouses remote all was great.

So. Did some lookin at it, and came up with a great solution.

You will need crazy glue, hole punch, and aluminum foil.

First get a piece of aluminum foil, place it between two pieces of paper, and make as many holes as you have non working buttons.

Next open the problematic remote
Apply rubbing alcohol and clean underside of buttons (sometimes this alone will fix the problem)

Then place a small drip of crazy glue on the underside of the buttons you want to fix

Put the aluminum foil you punched out onto the glue

Reassemble, and voila the remote works as good as or better than new.

Hope this helps someone out there

You may also want to touch up the solder connections of the Integrated Circuit (IC) to the Printed Wiring Board (PWB). When the battery starts to fail and the unit works intermittently, the tendency is to press harder on the buttons. This pressing bends the PWB and weakens the connections to the IC.

I bought a new fob and a programmable key from this web site: http://www.carandtruckremotes.com/

Service was great, they even shipped me the key after I discovered they had them and had already ordered the fob free of shipping.

Then, the owners of the vehicle dropped the second key and fob off and I never did anything with the new pieces. Think the two pieces cost me $48.

What I don't know is if a locksmith here in Ontario can program the key or even if a GM dealer will program an aftermarket key.
