Car insurance - how much are you paying for what car?

How much is everyone paying per year and for what car? Also, including age may be helpful.

Be good to show where in the world you are as well, but prehaps convert the amount to US $ using www.xe.com

I'm paying about US$100 per year for full insurance on a 96 Accord Wagon.

I'm in the over 30 bracket that insurance companies like too.

What?? One hundred dollars per year? How does that work? Is it subsidized?

I cannot see a company surviving on that without subsities. Consider a claim for the loss of a used car worth $10,000. That would equal 100 years worth of insurance premiums.

In Canada, auto insurance legislation is a provincial jurisdiction, so different provinces have different rules. Last time I looked, Saskachewan has a government-run auto program, where the gov. is the only provider and rates are very cheap..... although one's tax dollars pay the difference.

My province (Ontario) is completey privately run, with many companies and no subsidies. I pay $1200/yr for full coverage on my '97 DeVille, $700 for my Chevy van (full coverage except for collision loss) and $1000 for my '84 Supra.

I'm 45, no tickets in 22 years (not trying hard enough) and no insurance claims ever.

These rates are cheaper than average around here. Most people pay more, usually because their cars are worth more than mine,and/ or they have tickets/claims in the past 6 years.

Totally unregulated, totally free market (with some added premiums for government ACC, Fire etc).
The car is only valued at about $1800 and I am in a good age bracket for big discounts. There is also no cover for anyone under 25 driving it.

My last car only had 3rd party coverage on it, but the car before had full insurance.
That was a 1991 SiR Civic worth about US$5,500. While I was under 25 it cost about US$1,000 per year for full insurance, but that dropped to about US$700 per year when I turned 25.

Re: Car insurance - how much are you paying for what car?

I'm paying approx. $660 a year for two cavaliers (97, 98) w/ liability coverage for my wife and I through Progressive. The cars aren't worth much, hence the coverage. We are both 25.

Should be interesting to see how my rate changes when we get our new car around August - going for a Subaru Forester between 2002 and 2006.
