09 Impala problems

We've had problems for the last few months with our 09 Impala and I'm hoping someone might be able to help. It started out with the traction control and check engine lights coming on. The traction control would come on and then the check engine light would come on, powering down the engine. It would do this every 3 or 4 weeks. The fifth time this happened, the car shut off. It was approx. 5 minutes before the car would start. Yesterday, I was driving in town and I had a series of lights and warnings come on (airbag, tire pressure monitor, abs), as well as the gauges stopped working. The messages coming up, were to have each system checked. The warning lights were actually only flashing for a few seconds, then shut off for a few seconds and come back on again. The gauges stopped working when the warning lights were flashing and came back on when the warning lights went out. Any help would be appreciated.

could be bad electrical connections both positive as well as the grounds. make sure the battery connections are cleaned and secure..remove to do this .. then if its still acting up the BCM is a controlling device that could have connector issues and ground connection issues..

when many different circuits are acting up like whats with your vehicle in most cases its in the ground connections..

post back how it was corrected..this is more common with much older vehicles. did you question the dealership ? any body work on this vehicle ?

Re: 09 Impala problems

I checked the battery and cleaned the terminals as they needed pretty bad. I'll run the car a little while see if that corrected the problem. I didn't call the dealer yet, I was hoping someone could provide some leads to follow, to try and fix the problem myself. The car has 84000 kms on it so the powertrain is the only coverage I have. As far as body work, I have owned the car a little over a year and had no body work done.

the question is are you the original owner ???? if not then this could have been in accident with much body damage and ????

if you are the original owner then the body shop hacks would not be a factor....

Re: 09 Impala problems

I'm not the original owner of the car. I bought the car from a dealer. They provided one of those reports that shows the history of the vehicle. The report for the vehicle was clean. I don't know how accurate those reports are, so it is entirely possible that body work was done. I bought the car in march of last year and the problems just started in march or april of this year.

Is your vehicle also a 2009? Have you visited your dealership already to get this looked into? If you would like for me to check on your warranty status, please send me the last 8 of your VIN in a private message and I'll get you more information.

All the best,
Sarah
