1999 Suburban brake line

I've read that a scan tool is required to bleed the ABS unit. A brake line has rusted out on the vehicle which I can replace, though not looking forward to it. The ABS unit is disabled by pulling the fuse. Do I still need to have a tech bleed the abs system? Of course I will bleed all four lines at the wheel cylinders and calipers.

While it is recomended, it is not ALWAYS required to bleed the ABS unit (BPMV), replace the line as needed and do normal brake bleeding proceedure. If you cannot get a good pedal after normal bleeding, then you will need to have the BPMV bled with a scanner.

a specail scan tool would be required. if the leak is small replacing the line quickly with not much fluid leaking you should be good with just bleeding the lines.

when pumping the pedal do so slowly. this will not create air bubbles.
open bleed screws then push back the cal pistons to dump out any rusted debris first.
