2001 Isuzu Rodeo with automatic 4x4...tranny issues?

Hi All,

I recently bought a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo with automatic 4x4, 3.2 engine and this vehicle has 100,000 miles and has been sitting for a long while. I bought it from a auto auction that a friends own and it runs nice...quiet engine and I had changed the engine oil but I had it now for 4 weeks and put 1200 miles on it and I Feel a slipping in the transmission or rear end. When the vehicle is cold and I put it in drive, it feels like the rear end is slipping (maybe transmission) and then it catches and then it will happen when I get to a red light or stop, but when it is warmed up (the vehicle it works well and the transmissions runs thru all the gears fine (third gear maybe a little long in shifting) or if I take a corner sometimes it would 'slip'. I had the mechanic check the rear end fluid and he mentioned it was low so he filled it, hoping that was the issue but it did not help....maybe a possible transmission issue...low trans fluid or possible u-joints? I plan on taking it in to hafve the transmisson filter and fluid check next week when I fly back into town...any ideas in the meantime?

Thanks!

You have the right idea. Swap out the filter. Sometimes the tranny will do odd things when the fluid is low.

The transmission is the weak link on these trucks if they the fluid changes are not kept up.
